But lottsa love to my man LINCOLN! (still on the hunt for the perfect silhouette of your bod so I can finally get you tattooed on my body once and for all.)

It’s an Abe Lincoln kinda day all up on my threads! (Just another sweet score from the ol’ BF…he certainly does know how to pick out the best tshirts for me!)
Abe + Me = Saturday Night (Taken with instagram)
By the way, that’s totally a souvenir from Gettysburg. And yeah, the wine is called “Tears of Gettysburg”.

Gettysburg meets THIS GIRL!
This past weekend, I rolled into Gettysburg for a little getaway…a chance to be a total nerd experiencing two of my favorite loves: US HISTORY and GHOSTS!
It started with a Living Social purchase, a weekend getaway at the historic (and known to be haunted) James Gettys Hotel. This place was PERFECT! We’re talking cheese and chocolate platters, a new basket of muffins and cakes everyday, orange juice and coffees all delivered right to your room. We also were privy to the Living Social perks—a free wine tasting at the nearby winery’s retail shop, appetizers at the bistro next door, and not to mention a most excellent location…situated in downtown historic Gettysburg.
I got there later than planned on Friday night due to horrible traffic near the Holland Tunnel. So there really was only time for a quick stop at the diner, and a few drinks at the local tavern before bedtime. I swear though, within minutes of our arrival the town just KNEW “city-folk” had invaded. We got to the bar and if music had been playing, it would’ve stopped. Heads turned, eyes watched us as we saddled up to the bar, and then we waited…waited…and waited, finally the bartendar decided to give us her attention, probably because she realized we were NOT leaving. A few drinks later, and I was ready for bed-besides I had a lot to see the next day!
As every good morning should start, I had some coffee at the Gettysburg Hotel…with Kahlua and Baileys of course :)
After coffee, I made my way out for a day of sightseeing and educating my mind…with HISTORY!
There was the historic railroad where Lincoln barrelled into town for his well-known “Gettysburg Address”
This is where I came upon my first Lincoln sighting! No…not the ghost of Honest Abe, just a bust.
After, the train station, I spent the rest of the day browsing the local shops, dorking out over antiques, buying a Union Soldier cap (to wear on an everyday basis here in NYC cause that’s what I do), and visiting the Gettysburg College.
Little did I know, President Eisenhower’s house stood across the street from campus! WOWZAS…bonus, score, hoorah!
Once on the Gettysburg College’s campus, it felt ghostly and strange. No one was there, maybe still on holiday break??
I did come across their school of Arts, and I found this tractor machinery man! And while I didn’t see a body, so maybe it was a ghost (??? ok probably not), I did hear opera coming from the building…someone practicing their pipes!
HA, and there stood this gingerbread looking, tiny little, frat house! It seemed most of the greek homes were on campus, not off. This was strange to me, but then again I’m used to universities, whereas this campus reminded me a lot of Hiram in Ohio.
By this time the sun was going down, time to rest up and get ready for dinner. It was a tasty meal, but I ate so much I had to return to my room and pass out in a food induced coma. No ghost tours for me :( (I’ll just have to go back sometime this summer and do everything I missed out on! I really liked Gettysburg that much!)
The next morning we got up and had to check out…so we trekked to the battlefields! Oh holy hell…YES! What I came for! The MOST HAUNTED BATTLEGROUND in AMERICA!
While personally disappointed to not have seen any ghosts, it was probably for the best…I would’ve peed in my pants for real! And I’m 32…so I need to get control over my wits eh?
Nonetheless, the battlefield served as a solemn but appreciative reminder that THE UNION ROCKS!!!!!! (no Confederates for me!)
And then, just like that, the weekend was coming to a close. With a long 4hr drive ahead of me, I said my goodbyes to this wonderful piece of history and that lovely little historic town.
I gave my Fave President/major nerd crush, a huge hug, did not shed a tear, and told him I’ll be back.
Gettysburg in a nutshell…
a wonderful way to spend a weekend outside of NYC! I will tell everyone to go there, and of course to stay at the James Gettys Hotel.
And obviously…to stop by and say hi to my man, Abe!
