Yesterday, out of convenience to my apartment, and somewhat the fact that its half the price of my current gym, I joined Planet Fitness.
I got in my inaugural workout, but left after 20minutes. There is plenty of cardio equiment, but it was the weight training area I’m worried about. It was so overcrowded, there was very little space, and everyone seemed to have a workout buddy but me…so that meant they were hogging machines 2x as long.
Not to mention, being the new girl at the gym, I did not assert my “authority” as I was still testing out the waters.
I left feeling as if I got in no workout at all, and a little uneasy about my decision…was it convenience over quality? I didn’t realize it could get much worse than the crowds at Retro Fitness, but now I’m wondering just how wrong I might’ve been.
I’ll give it a few more visits, hoping I soon figure out a good time when next to no meatheads are there hogging the weights, the machines, and the area I need to WORK-IT-OUT
pffssttt…feeling defeated!
My friend Bridget did her magic to one of my photos, trying to spiffy up my image for an audition I wanted to partake in (sadly I missed the deadline).
But at least this picture still gets good use…for heaven’s sake its National Shrimp Day!
Anyone out there that read this just want to shake these two into getting jobs and saving money? Man, what jerks!
(Now…who wants to go see “The Great Gatsby” this weekend??)
This is about all the skin I can bare right now…because where the hell is mother nature on this rodeo called “spring?”.
(ok so today is a little nicer than say the day before…but still, she needs to get the memo already)
For now, it looks like booties with skimmers (the springiest thing I will wear at the moment till the sun shines some warmth on NYC), and a fleck of wrist for my bracelets. Other than that, I am covered up like its January.
How are you making do with Spring’s late arrival? Give me some ideas on how to make my winter wear more “spring-y”.
RIP GEORGE JONES!!!!!!!!! A fine talent you were!
All I did was ask a question of Anson Mount, and boom…tweet tweet!!
Ever since moving out to Ridgewood, I’ve more time to read…read actual books! You see, I have about a 15min longer commute than I used to, and I happen to live just far enough out that I usually get a seat on the train in the morning as well.
This means I no longer have to play a balancing act while standing up and trying to turn a page.
And it also means I now plow thru my multiple magazine subscriptions with sheer speed…and finally I can get back to reading actual books, which I haven’t done in AGES!
But reading books can get expensive, especially when you have picky taste like my own. You see, I mostly prefer bios…and bios on people I actually am interested in, like rockstars, groupies, or of course my beloved country folk. On occasion I’ll find myself with a book of fiction (such as my Fitzgerald fix!), but not usually.
To beat the cost of buying books, and to kick it oldschool style, I got myself a shiny new library card.
Yesterday I returned my first batch of books (seen here)…and in their place, I checked out “Just Kids”. I can’t wait to dive into that one!
Fingers crossed on my 3rd visit to the library (when I return “Just Kids”) I can finally fingure out the automated check-out proceedure…because me and this machine just do not get along. And it makes me feel like some ancient dinosaur living in some modern world. When did the library get so complicated? Can’t I just get a book by looking it up in the old call # drawers? Sheesh!
It’s Earth Day!!!
This weekend I had my monthly meetup with the Lower East Side Girls Club (you know, my Crafty Chicas volunteer gig I’m posting about on here from time to time?)
This month we went to the Javitz Center (an expo hall here in Manhattan) for an Earth Day fair. We browsed thru aisles and aisles of booths sponsored by eco-friendly companies such as food, clothing, water filtration systems, etc. We filled up our totes with lots of free samples, goodies, pins, writing utensils, and whatever else the companies were giving out like candy.
Besides the free goodies though, its important to be aware of our environment, and on a day like today…go out of your way to take a little extra care of her :) (or try to go out of your way everyday!!)
Touches on a memory or two…not always so great.
But what’s great? I’ll be hearing this for myself, LIVE, on June 7th! Woop Woop…this girl’s got two tickets to see Willie Nelson. I DIE!!!!!
I’ve posted this song before…because I pretty much doomed myself to a life in NYC. Once thought it was what I always wanted, but now know its not.
As a fashion designer, my skills don’t really allow me to move elsewhere, to a quaint town, a medium sized city, etc.
But, who else is going to make something happen where I can? No ONE…so that’s why I’m doing something about it.
Today I signed up for my first business class at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Armed with knowledge on this subject, the info I need, maybe one day I can move out, and get on with my life. I’ve still got some fashion dreams up my sleeves, they just take place outside of NYC.
